Dr. Fred C. Semitala Chair Board of Directors ACCESS

Is a Physician and Public Health Specialist. He is the Medical Director for the Mulago ISS clinic which provides care to over 15,000 HIV infected patients. He is the head for HIV treatment and Implementation Research at the Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) and a Lecturer in the Department of Internal Medicine at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. Dr. Semitala is a member of the senior management at MJAP and a member of the adult HIV treatment subcommittee at of the AIDS Control Program at the Uganda Ministry of Health. He has led several implementation research studies within MJAP on HIV/TB studies. Fred has over 15 years’ experience in HIV /TB treatment, prevention and programing, and coordinates the Fogarty funded Implementation Science training grant at the School of Medicine, Makerere University.

Dr. Semitala has a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery and a Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine from Makerere University in Uganda, a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of California Berkeley. He chairs the board of directors for ACCESS Uganda and has been very instrumental in spurring its growth.

 

Dr. Robert Kalyesubula is the Founder and President of ACCESS-Uganda where he provides oversight leadership and management. He leads the research and development programs at ACCESS Uganda.

He graduated from Makerere University College of Health Sciences with a degree in medicine. He completed his master of Medicine from the same University and later under took a nephrology fellowship and special training in investigational medicine both from Yale University (USA). He also underwent and has training in program management from Manchester University (UK) and McMaster University (Canada).

Dr. Kalyesubula currently works as a consultant nephrologist in Mulago Hospital and a Lecturer in the departments of Medicine and Physiology, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He is the deputy director of the postgraduate program in dept. of Medicine (MUCHs) and serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for McMaster University, Canada. He has over 36 peer reviewed publications in the areas of non-communicable disease as well as education and community based care models.

He has worked with WHO and NIH on issues of hypertension, HIV and the kidney in Sub-Saharan Africa and is a member of the European Society of Hypertension Working Group on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Risk in Low Resource Settings. He is a principal investigator with the Medical Research council on a GSK funded grant to characterize kidney disease in Africa. He is also the local PI for the NCD studies at ACCESS and has been involved in family planning research with a major interest in understanding how community healthworkers can contribute to improved health in rural areas.

 

Susan Kanyemibwa, FCIS

Susan is the current Secretary Bank of Uganda. She studies bachelors and master of law at Makerere Univeristy, Kampala Uganda and attained a fellowship of Chartered Institute of Secretaries from Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA-UK). She also has a master’s in Business administration from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Business School along with several certified trainings in leadership. She has served in several leadership positions at the Bank of Uganda and sits on several advisory boards. Ms Kanyemibwa is the secretary to the ACCESS board of directors and the head of finance and development. She brings enormous experience to the board and has been very instrumental in setting up governance structures within ACCESS.

 

 

Eng. Moses Zimwanguyiza – Member of the Board of Directors ACCESS

Is a civil Engineer and an Urban Governance and Management Consultant. He is the Regional Business Development Manager- East Africa for Al Amar Consulting Groups S.A.E-AMG www.alamargroup.com. He is a Principal Partner for K3E Consultants in Uganda. Eng Zimwanguyiza is a certified Project Manager,PRINCE2 by APM Group(UK), Reg. No. P2R/252695 and a member of the administrative staff College of India-ASCI, Bella Vista, Hyderabad-Procurement procedures for the World Bank Aided Projects. He has supervised and completed several roads and buildings projects; and is involved in studies like Kampala Urban Traffic Improvement Plan- KUTIP, Kampala Drainage Master Plan-KDMP and East Africa Trade and Transport Facilitation Project-EATTFP. Moses has over 19 years’ experience as a civil Engineer and has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Makerere University, a PGD in Urban Governance and Management from Uganda management Institute. He has also attended short courses at Stellenbosch University and Administrative Staff College of India for World Bank Procurement. He brings a lot of experience to support the ACCESS board in the area of development and governance.

 

 

Mr. Kalungi Kabuye Paul – Board member ACCESS

He is a business administration specialist with a bachelors in business administration (BBA) and an Honorary doctorate degree. He is the president and founder of Malcolm International (pty) ltd Uganda a subsidiary of Malcolm Holdings BVI specializing in Real Estate Financing, procurement and logistics, oil investment and security consultancy. He oversees all the strategic implementation of all organizational programs in Africa. He directly supervises over 600 employees. Mr Kabuye provides strategic linkages for ACCESS and is member of the Finance and Development committee of the ACCESS Board of Directors where he provides strategic leadership.

 

 

Ms. Katali Estherloy – Co-founder and Board Member ACCESS

She is a business and Information Technology Manager, a finance and administrative advisor at African Community Center for Social Sustainability and a lecturer with Makerere University Business School.  Ms. Katali Estherloy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Computing (Makerere University) and a Masters of Science in Information Technology from (ICT University in USA), a Post graduate diploma in ICT Policy and Regulations from Makerere University Business School, a Post Graduate diploma in Business education from Makerere University Business School, and a diploma in system Networks (CCNA) from Makerere University College of Science and Information management.
