ACCESS School of Nursing and Midwifery – Nakaseke

BRIEF BACKGROUND:

The school started as an institution that trained community health workers and nursing assistants in 2004 in response to the shortage of health workers in Central Uganda and the lack of access to health care in Nakaseke District. The school produced so many Community health workers who are currently working in over seven districts in Uganda, and throughout the East African region, providing care to thousands of East Africans, mostly in rural communities.

In November 2015, ACCESS School of Nursing and Midwifery – Nakaseke was established with an aim of training quality certificate nurses & midwives who would provide quality health care services to both the local and the international community. The school is located in Nakaseke District, Nakaseke Town Council in the first town, along Kiwoko road. We offer training in both Nursing and Midwifery courses, to both male and female students for a period of two and a half years. We have so far graduated six sets of students who are employed in different health facilities around the country. We have two student intakes; one in January and the other in July.

The school also provides unique educational opportunities for young people in rural areas who cannot otherwise attend university. Through their training, our students gain valuable nursing and midwifery skills leading to meaningful jobs in the country’s healthcare system. Our graduates are able to provide an income for their families and build a secure future for their children and the Nakaseke community.
